Soroptimist International Costa del Sol decided in 2021 to participate in the international call from the United Nations General Assembly for ways to make our local food system more sustainable, inclusive and resilient. They initiated various actions, one of which is the Soroptimist Award promoting local businesses and organizations who work towards sustainability.
“The reaction from the jury, participants and guests over the last 2 years has been very positive and SI Costa del Sol has decided to continue, because it is a positive and practical way of creating awareness. By following the candidates and winners from the previous editions everybody is able to contribute to a more sustainable society,” says Daphne Theunissen, president of SI Costa del Sol. “Every year we hope to reach more people from all over the Malaga province”.
The Soroptimist Award will have the following categories:
– Food farming and distribution
– Production of food products
– Education and Awareness
– Innovation and Technology
– Restaurant promoting local organic food and drinks.
The presentation of the winners will take place on Thursday the 17th of October 2024.
The candidates for the third Soroptimist Award can be presented using until the 20th of September 2024. It’s an easy Google form where you explain who you suggest as a winner, what they do and why they should win.

Soroptimist International Costa del Sol decidió en 2021 colaborar en el llamamiento internacional de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas para hacer nuestro sistema alimentario más local y sostenible, inclusivo y resiliente. Entre las acciones llevadas a cabo se encuentra el Premio Soroptimist, que reconoce a negocios y organizaciones locales que trabajan en la sostenibilidad y la soberanía alimentaria.
“La reacción del jurado y las personas participantes e invitadas estos últimos 2 años ha sido muy positiva, con lo que SI Costa del Sol ha decidido repetir. Es una forma efectiva de crear conciencia y contribuir a una sociedad más sostenible”, dice Daphne Theunissen, presidenta de SI Costa del Sol. “Cada año esperamos llegar a más personas de la provincia de Málaga”.
El Premio Soroptimist contará con las siguientes categorías:
– Agricultura y distribución de alimentos
– Producción alimentaria
– Educación y concienciación
– Innovación y tecnología
– Restauración en la que se sirvan alimentos y bebidas locales y orgánicos.
La presentación de los ganadores tendrá lugar el jueves 17 de octubre de 2024.
Las candidaturas para el tercer Premio Soroptimist pueden presentarse a través de hasta el 20 de septiembre de 2024. El formulario de inscripción es sencillo y permite explicar la iniciativa, qué hacen y por qué deberían ganar.
