Soroptimist Leadership Academy for Women in Malaga (Spain) – postponed until 2021
Introduction: The lead up to the Leadership Academy: Soroptimist International strongly believes that education empowers women and girls to realise their potential and to be able to support themselves. One of our missions is ‘Educate to Lead’ – to give young women the best opportunities to develop and take on leadership roles in society, politics, at work and in many other aspects of modern life.
The Leadership Academy has several goals: to bring together young women from different cultures and backgrounds, to encourage their personal growth through learning from each other and with our teachers, to develop leadership skills and come to know and understand themselves as individuals. We aim to achieve Sisterhood (Sororidad), create a network between students and teachers and achieve a greater reach of Soroptimists in Spain.
Location: Our venue La Noria is located in Malaga and features meeting rooms, single and double bedrooms, gardens and self-catering. It is run by Diputación – the province government responsible for small towns in the province of Malaga. Its main aim is social innovation supporting both local and international projects including working with Erasmus students.
The cost: (450 Euro inclusive) include accommodation, meals, excursions and the classes. We are open to sponsorship offers, because some students might not be able to pay the full price but would greatly benefit from this experience.
Pre-registration: Those invited to attend the Academy are young women living in Europe (and Morocco), age 21-30, who are interested in gaining leadership skills and keen to make a positive contribution to society. There are 25 places available. Please pre-register here (will take you to a Google form). The Academy will be held in English.
Program: From the welcome on the Saturday, the time will be filled with exiting speakers, workshops, work-out sessions, excursions and getting to know the taste of Malaga and of course time to relax speak with your new friends and reflect on all the impressions you will have. Organisers: The members of SI Costa del Sol are organising this event, we are a diverse group of women, who are very excited about our first Leadership Academy, we use our personal experience and our contacts from all over the (Soroptimist) world. We have the back-up of the German Union of Soroptimist, who are there with more experience, advice and contacts.
