The Karen Anne McMahon Trophy
We dedicate this golf tournament, to be held in Mijas on 28th May 2021, to Karen Anne McMahon. In 2009 Karen joined Soroptimist International, with her busy work schedule, she was not always able to be at the meetings, but she made sure to give us time on her TV show to spread the word about our activities.
Karen was a free spirit and loved her independence, she loved a good party, even better if accompanied with a glass of cava and dance music. She had some fantastic outfits and looked stunning on high heels, the quirkier the better. Only 56 years old, Karen was taken from us last May, far too early, it is difficult to fill the space she leaves behind.
After running Book World in Fuengirola for many years, Karen worked at Mijas Communication and was a member of the press group of the Costa del Sol. Karen was very well known in the Mijas area, she was in touch with many local organizations, especially the ones for ex-pats. Her father is also a keen golfer Karen would have loved this event with such an important cause, supporting local women and children victims of domestic violence.
The event will take place at the Miraflores Golf Club, Mijas Costa Spain. We will start with the Golf Tournament in the morning and finish the day with a Gala Dinner at the lovely Miraflores Golf Club Restaurant, including an auction and raffle and live entertainment.
